Product Release | Track batches of product in Runtime
The latest update to Runtime allows you to track batches of product throughout the manufacturing process.
Batches let you track a product as it moves through multiple locations (e.g. workstation, machines, or production lines). You can analyze time and productivity data specific to that batch. You can also track and diagnose problems at the batch level, such as downtime or rejects.
With batch tracking in runtime, you can achieve more granular traceability of your product, tracing quality issues back to specific production runs.
How do batches work?
There’s a new tab in the Runtime section of the web console called Batches.
To get started, create a batch on this tab. You will be asked to provide a batch ID. You can use any meaningful, unique identifier as the batch ID:
- Batch number
- Lot code
- Order number
- Work order reference
When you next start a run in the app, you will be asked to assign a batch from the list you've created.
Since production often happens at multiple stations, a batch can span multiple runs across different locations. Each run logs times and production metrics associated with the batch at that step.
You can review your tracked data using new dashboard views in the web console. The batches tab has two tables: active batches, which highlights any in-progress batches, and a list of all other created batches.
Selecting a specific batch lets you view aggregate data on times and output / rejects. You can also view a log of each run associated with that batch.
What's next?
We plan to continue building on these capabilities to provide more granular product tracking in Runtime. Coming soon is the ability to attach more data to a batch. You'll be able to customize your batch form to collect any additional attributes you want to track.
